My name is Ian Edwards and I live and practise from my home town of Stonehaven – a picturesque seaside town a short distance south of Aberdeen. (Recently I have started a practise in Lerwick, Shetland and will make regular visits.)
I first came across the Rolf Method of Structural Integration (also known as Rolfing) some 7 years ago and having suffered from upper shoulder and back pain all my working life, gave it a try. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it at first, but something kept pulling me back for more sessions. When I was about half way through the basic 10 series, I definitely became aware that the years of stress and discomfort were getting less and less, allowing me to function much easier without the pain and discomfort.
I remember one day bending down to pick something off the floor and realised that I could do it without any tightness or discomfort. A simple thing but, it felt good. The rest of the 10 series was full of similar experiences. I gradually became aware of the benefits from the subtle changes taking place as a result of the rolf work. By the end of that year I had greatly improved and was very impressed with the subtle and long lasting benefits of Structural Integration, (rolf therapy) I had to find out more about it.

People often appear taller and slimmer.
As we begin to view the world from a more stable and balanced structure, a new self confidence is found and the environment appears less threatening.
As our body becomes more flexible and open, so does our mind -- we approach life from a less rigid standpoint.
Often people feel lighter and more energetic.
Greater self confidence.

"Prior to receiving my basic 10 rolf work from Ian, I suffered constant pain in my lower arms from a nerve injury. My pain has greatly diminished and will continue to heal. Have been told repeatedly how badly I "hunched" my shoulders. This poor posture caused shoulder and neck pain for years. I just could not stand straight! My height has increased 1/2 inch; pain free am able to hold myself erect, walking with a fluidity and grace not experienced for years. I feel 20 years younger and stronger!"

"Having lost someone very close to me, I arrived for my first Rolf therapy Session feeling depressed, with low energy levels, suffering from lack of sleep, pain in my back, neck and shoulders due to poor posture and my irritable bowel was causing a lot of discomfort. After each session, the benefit was obvious. I began to walk tall, less pain in my back area, and I began to sleep through the night. My irritable bowel (IBS) became bearable, then after 7th – 8th session completely disappeared. This in turn lifted my energy level. Although the pain of grief will never go away. Structural Integration has certainly helped me cope better by improving my physical wellbeing, also my self esteem."

"After suffering lower back pain for over twenty years, and after trying several other therapies unsucessfully ranging from physio to homeopathy, I have been relieved and delighted to be treated by Ian - my first pain free period in twenty years.
I thoroughly recommend Ian to anyone."

"Rolfing has really helped with the pain from the scoliosis in my back by working on my posture. But the most surprising benefit has been the extra strength and vitality - long term - that it has given me. It has been remarkable."
